Casa Enza is located in the historic center of the small Sicilian town of Santa Flavia (red umbrella on the right) – a calm, but not sleepy suburb of Palermo.
The central location has a major benefit: within a hundred-meter radius are cafes, bars, shops, pizzerias, and at least one supermarket.
But the best thing about its location is this: the apartment is just 500m from the train station. So you can take the local train and in just twenty minutes get to Palermo. So this holiday apartment is a perfect jumping off point for holidays in Sicily that are "auto-free".
Casa Enza occupies the top two floors of the building: the two brown arrows on the floor plan below show the way from the staircase to the second-story entrance. From the entrance one enters the hall (Marker 1) and then the kitchen and bathroom, and into the living room and bedroom and the huge roof terrace (Marker 1 through 6). A small terrace over the kitchen and bedroom makes up the third floor. From here you can enjoy a breathtaking 360° panoramic view (Marker 7 through 9).
Please note: the colors and types of furnishings, plants, and so on may differ from the illustrations shown in the plan.
The huge terrace (130 m²) is perfect for sunbathing year round. In the summertime, awnings and blinds protect against excess sun while in the wintertime the apartment enjoys access to sun all day long.
There is an additional smaller terrace above the kitchen and bedroom (Markers 7 through 9). It provides about 15 m² for taking in the sun and a wonderful view of the sea. But maybe you prefer mountains?
No problem. Just turn about 90° to the side and you are looking out onto the Madonie mountains and the Pizzo Cane. In the image you can see Pizzo Cane at sunrise. And opposite that: Monto Catalfano and the world-famous Solunto archaeological site.
Starting with the most important – the bed. At the end of the day, holidays in Sicily always take place in bed. Thankfully, Casa Enza comes with two mattresses (80 x 200cm) and an integrated mosquito net.
In addition, there's a pull-out sofa in the living room that can be turned into a bed in a few easy steps.
The kitchen in the apartment has a full stovetop with four burners, an oven, and a large refrigerator. On the terrace there is a cozy "laundry area" with large sink and washing machine.
The apartment's interior was planned by interior designer Maria Carnevale and artist Mirella Pipia, and implemented by local artisans.
If the Sicilian sun doesn't warm Casa Enza quite enough in wintertime, modern climate control takes care of the rest. And if the sun is a bit too helpful in summertime, the same modern climate control can help take the temperature back down.
These systems are located on the floor, making for warm feet in winter and a cool head in summer. And it's done without a lot of noise: the systems we have installed are among the quietest on the market.
Holiday apartments like these make use of digital technology as well. The internet at Casa Enza is fast and reliable. And of course, there is digital satellite television as well.
Casa Chloé in Santa Flavia is perfect for self-organized excursions. "Right around the corner" you'll find mountains, the sea, and ancient history. You can reach it all:
You will find that for all types of trips, Casa Chloé makes the perfect jumping-off point: Many sights are within walking distance, while a bicycle shop is close by and a train station just 100m away. A car rental is only 10min away down the highway. And one of your goals for several excursions will be the Sicilian capital, Palermo:
Casa Chloé is great for convenience and for being "close to civilization". But even for those who like a more urban environment, the apartments are perfect. The reason is Trenitalia. The proximity to the train means that during your holidays in Sicily, you can reach Palermo in just thirty minutes – and that includes the walking time from Casa Chloé to the station.
Palermo is one of the most underrated cities in Europe, despite drawing more and more visitors every year enjoying their holidays in Sicily. Part of the reason is why it is more and more popular is that it's one of the safest cities in Europe.
Indeed, today it could even be called an "anti-mafia" capital. One thing hasn't changed though: the hustle and bustle of its wildly colorful city life. Luckily, Santa Flavia and Casa Chloé offer a perfect contrast – you get the best of both worlds.
